About Our School

Avonbridge Primary School is a small non-denominational school set in the rural village of Avonbridge which lies approximately 6 miles south of Falkirk.
The village has a mix of council and private housing with the majority being council owned. There is a shop in the village which sells groceries and a post office. A haulage firm and a public house are also sources of employment. We have two churches, the Congregational Church and the Church of Scotland, which both have regular Sunday services. Ministers of both churches are regular visitors to the school and take part in assemblies and end-of-term services.

Avonbridge Primary School is an Eco School having gained our 3rd Green Flag in April 2015. The Eco committee has led the school forward in various areas including updating the school grounds to include a bee garden, bug hotel and bat boxes. We recently planted fruit trees for our orchard. We still focus on recycling, energy efficiency and litter reduction.

We also gained our Platinum Enterprise Award in June 2012. This is the highest Enterprise Award and shows that we are an enterprising school, and that our pupils are actively involved in enterprise activities in their classes as well as as a whole school.

The school offers a residential experience each year for Primary 7 pupils. This is in conjunction with the other Cluster primary schools and in March 2016 this will be to Broomlee, West Linton. This is part of the transition to Secondary School and gives the children an opportunity to meet before going on to Braes High School.
